Vyaya ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the Vyaya mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

• Personal Information (Optional): If you sign in using Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture URL to personalize your experience.
• Financial Records: Transaction details (amount, date, merchant, category) you add manually or are extracted from SMS are stored securely.
• Budgeting & Goals: We collect financial planning information that you explicitly provide, such as your monthly spending budgets and savings goals, to help you track your progress.
• Biometric Data: We offer Biometric Authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) to secure your access to the app. Vyaya does not collect, store, or transmit your biometric data. Authentication is handled entirely by the Android operating system on your device.
• SMS Data (Transaction Messages): With your explicit consent, Vyaya accesses your SMS messages to automatically extract financial details (e.g., merchant name, amount). We do not read, store, or transmit your personal or non-financial messages.
• Device Information: Basic details like device model and OS version for analytics and troubleshooting.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data to:

• Automated Bookkeeping: Automatically track and categorize expenses from your SMS notifications.
• Financial Planning: Compare your actual spending against your user-defined monthly budgets.
• Insights & Reporting: Provide you with spending trends and category-wise analysis.
• Improve app performance and security features.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your records are stored locally on your device by default using encrypted storage (SQLCipher). SMS processing and Biometric checks are performed entirely on your device. Only the extracted transaction details and your budget settings are synced to your secure cloud account when online.

4. Permissions & Opt-Out

• READ_SMS: Used for automated expense tracking. This is optional.
• USE_BIOMETRIC: Used to provide the app-lock feature for your privacy.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to provide you with instant transaction summaries and budget alerts.

You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.
